Michael Rose
Michael Rose is a versatile British pianist, and collaborator, a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama repetiteur course after having achieved a First Class undergraduate degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire studying with Mikhail Kazakevich.
At Birmingham, Michael cultivated a love and passion for opera, assisting in the preparation of the Spring 2022 production of ‘Banished’ by Stephen McNeff and the Summer 2022 production of ‘Les Arts Florissants' by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Before this, he was repetiteur for the 2021 production of ‘Coraline’ by Mark-Anthony Turnage.
At Guildhall, Michael was repetiteur for the Spring 2023 production of ‘Dead Man Walking’ by Jake Heggie and was assistant conductor for the Summer 2023 ‘Opera Makers’ production, the Spring 2024 premiere of ‘A Star Next to the Moon’ by Stephen Mcneff, and the Summer 2024 production of ‘Alcina’ by Handel. Michael has also worked with Cumbria Opera Group for their 2021 double-bill of Samuel Barber’s ‘Hand of Bridge’ and Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ as well as Birmingham Opera Company with their productions of Hanns Eisler’s ‘The Decision’ and Michael Tippet’s ‘New Year’.
Michael also takes interest in the art song repertoire, having received the 2022 Edwards Brooks English Song Accompanist Prize and having performed in lunchtime song recitals at the Royal Opera House, St Martin in the Fields and Lamport Hall. Alongside this, he was a Young Artist within the Leeds Lieder 2022 festival alongside Hannah Morley.
